U.S. Embassy Hosts Job Fair for Exchange Program Alumni (March 3, 2016)

March 3, 2016

On March 2, the United States Embassy in Kabul hosted a job fair and networking event for alumni of Embassy-sponsored exchange programs.  More than 45 exchange program alumni met with 22 potential employers, including private companies, government ministries, job placement agencies, USAID contractors, and NGOs.  The majority of alumni in attendance participated in the Fulbright program, which offers scholarships for Afghans to pursue Master’s and Doctoral degrees in the United States.

Embassy-sponsored exchange programs select the best and brightest future leaders of Afghanistan to receive training and education in the U.S. in an effort to provide needed human capacity in Afghanistan.

The Embassy’s Fulbright program has an employment rate for returnees of over 95%, while the Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant and Junior Faculty Development programs report 100% employment rates.  The U.S. Embassy and alumni associations occasionally hold such networking events to help alumni find meaningful jobs that use their skills and education acquired in the U.S.

This year’s Fulbright program is accepting applications until March 20th.  Interested applicants can find full information about exchange programs and application forms on the U.S. Embassy website.
