The Embassy of the United States condemns yesterday’s horrific attack on a crowd of Afghans playing sports in Paktika Province, and offers our sincerest condolences to the victims and their families. The attack resulted in numerous deaths and injuries to innocent Afghans, including children, affecting families just days after Eid-Al-Adha. Such heinous actions have no justification. They demonstrate the depravity of the insurgency and a total disregard for Afghan lives. We call upon the Taliban, other militant groups, and those who support them to stop deliberately targeting innocent people and end the bloodshed.
