Special Representative Khalilzad Visits Kabul

The Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation, Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad, returned to Kabul November 17-19 to brief President Ghani and other officials on his recent meetings with stakeholders for building peace in Afghanistan.

During his visit, Special Representative Khalilzad also met with men and women active in Afghan civil society and peace efforts, members of the media, and other key governmental and non-governmental officials.  In his meetings, Ambassador Khalilzad stressed that all Afghans must have a say in creating a sustainable peace for Afghanistan.  Ambassador Khalilzad said “Peace is the yearning of all Afghans. The U.S. would like to help Afghans achieve this objective, which is a very worthy goal. Afghanistan has been at war for 40 years. The Afghan people deserve peace. We want to be a partner to the Afghans in achieving this goal.”
