U.S. Senator John McCain (Republican-Arizona), Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee and leader of the U.S. delegation including Senators Lindsey Graham (Republican-South Carolina), Joe Donnelly (Democrat-Indiana) and Ben Sasse (Republican-Nebraska), met with President Ghani and with Chief Executive Abdullah to discuss security issues and the bilateral relationship between the United States and Afghanistan. The Members of Congress reaffirmed the commitment of the United States to the people of Afghanistan through the NATO Resolute Support Mission, and pledged to work with President Ghani, Chief Executive Abdullah, and their colleagues in the Government of National Unity as they work to improve the capacity of Afghan forces and to build an Afghanistan that is stable and secure.
