U.S. Embassy Kabul, Afghanistan: March 13, 2015
The U.S. Embassy in Kabul informs U.S. citizens that a political rally and march will take place on Friday, March 13, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The march is expected to start at the Kot e Sangi Square in Police District 5 and end at the Dasht e Barche area of Police District 6. The rally will be organized by supporters of the Late Abdul Ali Mazari, a martyred Hazara leader and former leader of Hezb e Wahdat e Islami Afghanistan (Islamic Unity Party of Afghanistan). Roads and key intersections along the route in western Kabul will affected.
Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence. You should avoid areas of demonstrations, and exercise caution if in the vicinity of any large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations.
