Emergency Message for U.S. Citizens

May 15, 2016

Due to planned mass demonstrations throughout Kabul City, the U.S. Embassy Consular Section will not be handling visa appointments on Monday, May 16.  The Consular Section will provide emergency consular services for U.S. citizens.

Large crowds are expected to begin mobilizing as early as 6:00 a.m. in various parts of Kabul City.  The U.S. Embassy advises U.S. citizens to limit travel within Kabul.  Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence.  You should avoid areas of demonstrations, and exercise caution if in the vicinity of any large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations.
