Chargé d’Affaires for the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, David E. Lindwall, hosted the American Chamber of Commerce of Afghanistan at the official residence of the U.S. Ambassador. Approximately 40 Afghan and American business leaders gathered at the Embassy to network and discuss the current business environment in the country. Mr. Lindwall addressed the attendees, saying that he has worked constructively with American Chambers of Commerce around the world, and commending them for the important economic and development work they do in Afghanistan.
Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Afghanistan, Mowdood Popal, expressed appreciation for the U.S. Embassy’s work with the organization. He noted that Kabul looks vastly different today than it did when he arrived in the city in 1999, as a result of the significant investment in infrastructure that the U.S. Embassy and U.S. and other foreign firms have made here. Popal added that this partnership and investment is a sign of U.S. commitment to Afghanistan.
Established in 2010, the American Chamber of Commerce Afghanistan works to promote U.S. private-sector investment in Afghanistan.
