Yesterday, U.S. Agency for International Development Administrator Samantha Power spoke with President Ashraf Ghani of Afghanistan to discuss USAID’s enduring partnership with the government and people of Afghanistan, especially Afghan women and girls.

Administrator Power and President Ghani discussed how USAID’s focus areas align with the Afghan government’s priorities—such as developing markets for Afghan products to grow the private sector, and furthering the tremendous gains in education and public health.
Administrator Power stressed the U.S. commitment to also alleviate urgent needs through a recent contribution of $266 million in humanitarian assistance.
